Цель урока: ознакомление учащихся с обычаями и традициями празднования праздника “St. Valentine’s Day”

Задачи урока:

Обучающие:

• 
  Познакомить учащихся с традициями и обычаями празднования Дня Святого Валентина в Великобритании.
  
• 
  Способствовать формированию у учащихся навыков лингвострановедческой компетенции.
  
• 
  Активизировать лексику на тему “St. Valentine’s Day”.

  Познакомить с фольклорным и поэтическим наследием англоязычных стран.
  

Развивающие:

• 
  Развивать творческую фантазию, познавательный интерес, инициативу в осуществлении иноязычной речевой деятельности.
  

Воспитательные:

• 
  Воспитывать у учащихся чувство прекрасного и уважение к культуре и традициям других народов.

  Воспитывать чувство взаимной ответственности, прививать навыки работы в коллективе.

Урок - соревнование проводится с учащимися 9-11 классов. Участники разбиваются на 2 команды по 4-5 человек. В игре участвуют 8-10 учащихся, учитель и 2 помощника учителя. Учащиеся-участники соревнования, учитель-ведущий, помощники участвуют в подсчете очков в течение урока.

Игра проводится по теме «Умные игры» (“Clever Games”).

«Умные игры» - разнообразные головоломки, запутанные лабиринты и веселые задачки, которые помогут ребенку научиться логически и творчески мыслить, развить математические способности, воображение и фантазию.

Перед началом мероприятия на парты команд кладутся листы ADDITIONAL MATERIALS: карточки для вписывания ответов (см. Приложение).

У помощников есть листы с ответами и количеством присуждаемых очков для быстрого подсчета (см. Ответы).

   Организационный момент
   

Good morning, dear boys and girls! Glad to see you! Do you like holidays? And I like them, too. What holidays do you know? (Учащиеся называют известные им праздники.) We start our lesson, which connected with a beautiful holiday, one of the most popular in Great Britain. On the 14th of February people celebrate St. Valentine’s Day. This holiday is the favourite holiday of all English children and adults. Today we will have a very unusual lesson. It will be held in a kind of competition. You will be divided into two teams “Boys” and “Girls”. You will read about the history of this holiday, have some contests, write cards and do a lot of other different things, which will help us know who the winner of the competition will be. I hope you’ll enjoy our English lesson and be friendly to each other. I wish you good luck! Let’s start!

Task № 3 “Valentine’s Maths Message”.

The next task will show us your skills not only in English but also in Mathematics. To do it you’ll have to solve some subtraction problems/ find the answers using minus. Replace the numbers by corresponding letters from the alphabet and get the phrase referring to today’s topic. (объясняет на примере правила задания)

Create your own valentine card. On the desks in front of you there are some special things to help you create your own Valentine card. Use any of them to decorate it. Choose any person you like from the opposite team to write his or her name on the card. Don’t forget to choose one person from your group to sign the card. The more interesting your card is the more points you get. Your time is limited. You have only 4 minutes and 35 seconds to do the task.
